A first Parkrun.

I started C25K on January 3rd as a complete beginner, and a "fat lad". 19 stone 8, and totally unable to run.

I finished the programme in 9 weeks and yesterday I did my first Parkrun. I didn't stop at all, and whilst I wasn't quick (34.11), I was immensely proud to have been able to do it. My weight is now 16-12.

I have had some amazing advice from people here, and to them I am grateful. If you are thinking of embarking on the journey, crack on. It's been a real buzz, truly.

Great WilberJohn. I wouldn't class your time as slow personally. So much to be happy about. The weight loss in itself is a brilliant acheivement let alone finishing both C25k and a parkrun. Keep it up I can see you have the buzz 😁👍

Well done! Completing a park run in 34 mins is brilliant. I couldn't go this week and really missed it. You've got the buzz now like the rest of us!! Keep running ...

34 minutes is good for your very first.

Because of lockdowns I didn't get to do my first parkrun until a year after I'd done C25K.

How was the course? Was it hilly (like my local one), or was it flat?

It was flat, 3 laps of a park.

To be honest, I am not that concerned about the timings, I am just glad I could do it. I am 51, so if I can do it every week or two and take a few minutes off over time, then it's all good.

I didn't start C25K until I was 51 either.

That really is amazing! Well done both on your first Parkrun and your weight loss. I hope you enjoyed Parkrun, I joined 2 years ago and have made so me great friends and really look forwards to my Saturday mornings. I am sure you will too if you decide to make it a regular thing!😀🏃‍♀️

fantastic. Well done. I am on week 8, and hoping to eventually do some park runs. That time is great. I am running at a speed of about 1 km per 10 mins. So I am super slow. At this speed it will take me 50 mins to run 5k. You have achieved so much since January. Super well done.

I don't think the time matters. Just the fact that you are doing it is what matters, truly
