Well done for you, moving on wonderfully! It will be interesting to see who is following which eating regime plans...

My eating regime, is as difficult to maintain sometimes, as those folk trying to lose weight, because I am trying to get a tad more on!

After a blip at the end of 20i9 into 2022, I lost weight and more, importantly muscle tone, I had to stop running for a while before starting C25K again and have been building back very slowly... having made it to a goal, weight and getting back to 10K, I then had Covid just before Christmas setting me back again! So, I am working, now to get those extra lbs. back on! Because I love my running so much, I am having to take it gently! This weight gain or loss is a tricky business!

Have you taken a look at one of our sister sites at all? Weight Loss Support? There was, when it was called something else... a fair few folk on there who were on here also...linked together, they make for great support.

As you do know, in the FAQ post How to Run C25K, there is a section on there all about nutrition, and you clearly are addressing that.

You are going to get there,,, and the best news is that all of us will be right there with you!

Tom venuto and Michael matthews have some good books on building muscle and gaining weight . And if you order them through eBay you can usually get them pretty cheap second hand . This is such a good forum , everyone is so nice and supportive and understands the struggle ❤️

Hi Donna I'm calorie counting with Nutracheck. I successfully lost a couple of stone with them a few years ago but it's crept back and harder to shift now I'm older. HRT patches don't help either☹️ but still plugging away.

Hi Donna2023, I started C25K in March 2021 along with calorie counting & lost 3 stone. I’ve done Slimming World before which was successful but I couldn’t maintain it. The calorie counting really worked for me. It really opened my eyes to the calorie content of the food I was eating. I thought it would be a faff working out the calories but I used the food tracker on my Fitbit & found I could scan barcodes & search for food groups & add them from a list in the tracker which was much quicker. From my experience, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to outrun the food you eat so don’t use running solely as a means to lose weight, rather as a means to gain fitness & improve health. The weight loss will come with a healthy balanced diet that is in calorie deficit. Take it slow & steady, good luck & enjoy.

that’s interesting as I also done slimming world a few years ago and lost a lot of weight - but I couldn’t maintain it either ! I quite like doing calorie counting on my fitness pal but am currently on weight watchers (that I’m sick of lol ) I might switch back over to mfp

I was - and still am a WW member. I started C25k while attending weekly classes, and it was a member there who got me started on the programme.I’d already lost 3 stone, borrowed a dog, and managed to lose another stone after completing the programme

I am really into healthy eating. It’s just normal for me now. I don’t want to eat the things I ate before losing weight and getting healthy. There’s no going back once you’ve turned things round

There’s no need ever to count calories! No wonder folks get bored. We all know what’s healthy and what’s not Just stick to that Good luck 😀👍🏃‍♀️

Check out Jason Fong's videos on Youtube.

A short burst of intermittent fasting does the trick for me.

Hi Donna2023. I was on a GP referral for Slimming World which got me started on weight loss. However, I also used the free app 'my fitness pal' and found it to be just as good, if not better. No worrying about missing a class or having to pay a fee even if you don't turn up. However, it's great to get started especially if you like the support of other people. Whatever app you use, don't add in the runs then you'll see a difference. If you allow extra food for your runs, well... you start adding on 'treats' and it's all downhill from then on! But seriously, running, walking etc, plus weight loss does work and has so many other benefits. For me, it's kept me off statins and BP medication. Good luck!🏃‍♀️

A balanced diet is necessary for both good nutrition and health. You are shielded from a variety of degenerative noncommunicable diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and heart disease. A balanced diet that limits salt, sugar, saturated fats, and trans fats from industrial production is crucial for good health.

Only just spotted this thread so apologies for being late to the party. I’ve been doing weight watchers since January 2022 and have lost just over 6 stone so far with a stone to go to my target. C25k came into my exercise routine around June time last year and it’s really helped when I’ve been able to run to chip away towards my goal. I like WW as it rewards you for healthy choices which all feeds into keeping the body right for running.

Hi Donna, I’m doing Keto, no carbs which includes sugar. This time last year I was over 20st and I’ve dropped to 13st 11lb. I keep below 20g of carbs ( so it’s not totally no carb ). I eat healthier than I ever have done now and feel great. I still have a way to go to my goal but it’s working great. It gets a lot of bad press which is based on very old, outdated studies but hey, me at 13’11 is better than me at 20+ I’m on week 6 of the C2 program and loving it.

I've been on Keto since 29th January, not long, I'm already down by around 20lbs, that is from a weigh in I did on 16th January.

I've tried just about every other diet, last time I did C25K I was on a low carb, high protein diet but not keto, I lost over 3 stone but I have it to lose, and more.

I monitor my glucose and ketone levels very closely and then work out my glucose/ketone index - I'm normally in the 1-3 range, in a deep ketogenic state.

Not bad going to say it's only been three weeks or so.

I use MyFitnessPal to log what I eat and I only really eat one meal a day but may have a snack around 5pm before I start cooking dinner; this snack is either 40g hazelnuts or 2x pepperami, both give you roughly the same amount of calories and fat.

I also limit my overall calorie intake to around 1200-1400.
