W5r2 complete but back on the couch for a few days

Yesterday was my second run this week, but didn’t feel right from the start. My body felt stiff, which I put down to a bad nights sleep; it wasn’t exercise stiffness, more tension. I ran really slowly hoping I could shake off the stiffness but it didn’t improve. In final mins of running I began to feel some twinging in my buttock but I was almost at walking pace at this point. I had adjusted my route to fit the session, but ended up with 20 minute walk home after the cool-down. It was not pleasant as my right buttock was becoming extremely painful as I walked-right in the middle. Hot shower when I got in didn’t seem to help much and I just couldn’t warm up. Normally I wear a tshirt indoors, but had to put on a sweatshirt, cardigan and wrap in a blanket. Guess I’ve caught some sort of bug too.

Today I’m still in multiple layers. Buttock is less painful, though I can’t see myself running tomorrow- walking without pain would be nice. W5 r3 will have to wait 😞.

I wonder if my initial stiffness/ tension and subsequent injury was due to being under -dressed for the weather….it was freezing and the cold wind was blowing in my face as I ran…..I never felt warm.

Maybe chilled, maybe tension or maybe a bug. Keep wrapped up warm and have a rest and then get back to it.

Are you familiar with foam rolling stiff muscles?

I don’t have a roller but I think I’ll get one. Thanks for the suggestion.

That sounds rough! I go out running in the cold wrapped but unwrap as I get hotter but recently running in cold I could not warm up once home even after hot shower. Where is a hot flush when you need one 😜

Hope you feel better soon

😂 Thanks. It was the first time I had not taken my outer layer off while runnng. I’m now thinking of adding another extra thin layer with a zip, just in case it’s over compensation for the cold. Can’t wait to get back out.

Sounds like getting cold has encouraged something that was already lurking Couchpotato101. But I'm no medical expert. I hope it passes and you start to feel better but maybe postpone that run until you do. Take care of yourself! 😊
