So I’ve had a break during the Xmas period, gonna get back on it this week though. Found out I’ve got hammer toe too so trying to find solutions for that. Can’t wait to get back to running

My advice would be not to take holidays from running. You want it to become an integral part of your life, whether you are on holiday or it's Christmas, Easter etc.
I do understand that school holidays/family resposibilities can make such times challenging, but really recommend keeping going as much as possible.
Anyway- enjoy getting back to it 😃
unfortunately working full time with only Xmas weekend off it had taken its toll so the break was much needed.
Yes, I know it’s really hard! I am MD of my company , I had 3 dependent children when I started here- and often skipped runs and didn’t run 3 times a week. However, I also know from experience that I need to take time for me, to keep fit and healthy to juggle everything else.
I would still advise you to keep at it- enjoy your return!
Lots of us have struggled over December with illness, injury, busyness…. You are more certainly not alone! January is a brilliant time for a reset. It’s great that you missed running when you couldn’t run. It must be getting under your skin. Plenty of us can testify how that happened to us too! It might be worth going back a week, or a few depending on where you were, how long it’s been and how active you’ve been in the meantime. There’s no rush to finish-err on the side of too easy rather than pushing too hard.
Sorry about your toe. Have you had any help with that? We’d always recommend not running in pain so it might be worth getting some professional advice about treatment and running with it.
The runs will still be there when you’re ready for them. Obviously it’s great to keep running regularly, but with the best will in the world we don’t always have the capacity to make that happen with everything going on in our lives. We’re all in different situations. We just have to do the best we can.
Hi I have a few hammer toes and use what I call a toe snail. It is silicone and supports the toes from underneath and is held on with a loop that one toe goes through- hence the resemblance to a snail. It has made a lot of difference and stops the tender pad of the toe from having too much pressure put on it. You can get on Amazon but some chemists shops sell them. Pedimend...just looked it up
