Hi AllI have a route Ive been using for consolidation it's a 2km loop so usually go round twice, takes around 38mins total
Toxic 10 is usually broken through half way round the first loop but not this time I was still feeling it 20 mins in and ashamed to say gave today up as a bad job.
It felt wrong from the outset just I'm used to running in the dark and when it's colder than today.
How do you get through days like this feel like I've gone backwards

To wheel out my favourite Coach B quote…when you can’t run the run you want, run the run you can. You ran for twenty minutes today. That’s great! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with doing a twenty minute run while you’re consolidating. Runs don’t need to be thirty minutes to count as good. I did a fifteen minute run every week as part of my half marathon training.
You absolutely don’t need to be ashamed you cut short-that’s a really sensible thing to do if you’re having a bad day. We all have them. It doesn’t mean you’re any less of a runner that you were when you ran and felt great. Sometimes we just have to look for success in different ways to what we’d set out to do. Be proud of what you actually achieved today.
Often, if I’ve had a real duffer of a run, the next one is much better. Really good luck for your next one 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Just as an aside for anyone reading, consolidating usually means staying within 30 minutes and not increasing pace for a period after graduating, usually around three weeks, until that’s totally comfortable. Ardenk it might be worth reading this post from the wonderful IanodaTruffe to make sure you’re not pushing a bit hard a bit soon.
Oh no! That sounds like an obvious reason why today was tougher than usual. Sometimes it’s like that-you can look back and see you hadn’t eaten enough, or drunk enough, or were coming down with something etc. Sometimes it’s just one of those things.
Really hope it’s a quick recovery and rest up in the meantime ❤️
No, don't push yourself if you're not well, you'll suffer for longer, you'll feel rotten so won't want to go out again and you'll risk injury as you probably won't be paying attention.
You won't lose any condition for a few weeks so, if you're one of the people who always feel they have to strive to move forward, turn it round in your head.
You are not not training, you are actively taking the most sensible choice and resting to allow recovery. It's not a copout it's a strategy. You'll get better quicker and be raring to go. And no cheating!!! Eat that Christmas pud, wear that onesie and relax in front of that TV with your duvet. It's all part of the plan
