Fantastic news! The programme is just brilliant isn’t it! That run is one that just makes you smile for ages. You’ve done so well to get here. Watch out for week 6…sometimes people go a bit quickly after the excitement of completing week 5 and run out of puff!

I’ve spotted you’re new so you might not have seen this little guide to the programme here with lots of helpful hints and tips.  Well worth a read.  Most important is keeping it slow and steady at a pace where you can talk in full sentences without gasping.  Most of us go too fast!healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Regarding running outside, lots of people do report finding it harder to start with but is worth persevering. Pacing is a bit trickier, the terrain presents an extra challenge and then there’s the weather, especially this time of year. I would say it’s more than worth it though. I’ve read articles saying running outdoors helps develop your running strength in different ways than a treadmill. You’ll build up a greater variety of muscles compared with a treadmill. It opens up running with others and some beautiful places to run. Definitely give it a go. I’d suggest going extra super slowly, and consider going back a week or two on the c25k programme if you’ve never run outside before.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with running exclusively on a treadmill but if you can brave outside, I doubt you’ll regret it!

Really good luck. 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♀️

20 minutes !! very well done 👏 feels great doesn’t it.

Agree with miss understanding. Do what works for you obviously but outside is wonderful - give it a try!

I did my first 25 minute run today, the thought scared the life out of me but I did it. I’m using the treadmill at the gym as the thought of these dark nights aren’t appealing at the minute.

Well done ; that’s a milestone run. I did a lot of c25k on the treadmill because of icy conditions at the time . You’ll find it’s not so bouncy outside, but oh it’s so much better feeling the wind in your face, looking around you and witnessing changing seasons. It takes a lot to get me back on the dreadmill now.
