yay! So glad it’s finished. I did my last run on Saturday after putting it off for a couple of weeks. I only enjoyed one run out of the last 3 weeks (7, 8 & 9) and had to force myself to do them. I feel it was the pressure to have to run for a set amount of time. In this situation I found myself clock watching.
Interestingly, Sunday I ran without the pressure of having to, with a plan of run/walk as I feel to, and I ran 5km in 39 minutes. It’s the second time I’ve done this, run 3 of week 8 I abandoned the instructions and decided to do what I wanted and I got into it and ran for longer.
From now on I think I’ll just follow my own flow, plan to run/walk as I feel and see where it gets me. I clearly need to trick myself into doing it! 😂

Huge well done for finishing this programme..you found parts of it tricky, but you persevered and you got to that podium where your badge is waiting!
This is you running and you run it your way, and the best bot here is, this is just the beginning... and as you are saying, you move forward in your own time, and your own way
Just be wary of pushing too far too quickly. It’s great you ticked off the 5k but it’s a good idea to stick at running for no more that 30 minutes for a little while to allow your body ti consolidate what you’ve done. That will reduce your chance of getting injured straight after your victory over the programme!
Who knows where running you’ll be in a year’s time! Again, really well done.
thank you, and thank you for the links. I appreciate your advice, I’m pretty good at listening to my body, which is one reason why following programs isn’t always right for me, it’s so much easier for me to follow my own flow. I’m grateful to c25k for getting me started as it’s an achievement in itself, regardless of whether I continue. Honestly not got the running bug but it’s another thing along with the other exercise I do to keep me fit and healthy. Have a great day 😄
Well done! Just here to say that I’m so pleased to see someone else say they haven’t got the running bug. I carry on for my health but I really don’t enjoy it. I’m hoping one day it will just happen 🙂
Hey Bruuuce, good to meet you! I like the idea of being able to do it when I feel like It but there are many forms of exercise that are good for us and probably better in terms of low impact. So if I don’t get the bug, so be it. Everything else I do is also great, particularly yoga, qigong and a variety of exercise (including cardio). We’re all doing really well whatever we choose to do that’s right for us, because we’re doing it. I applaud you and your efforts 👏
I got a bit “same as, same as” at the end of C25k, but then discovered a 10k plan. Three runs per week, a shorter quicker one, sometimes with intervals, one about 5k and then a longer run increasing by 1k week on week. I needed the voice in my ear for C25k, but afterwards I got rid of the ear phones and for the most part did it by feel. I have kept in touch with the forums here though; I have learned so much from other people and enjoyed their company too. Whatever you decide to do, I hope that you can make it enjoyable. 👍
Well done Brighter1 however you did it you got it done that's the important thing. I tend to run better when I don't put pressure on myself 🏃♀️🏃♀️🎉🎉🍻
Congratulations on finishing the programme. I think you are right, clock watching is not good. I have got into the habit of not looking at my watch as often and find listening to a podcast rather than music is a good distraction. When I do glance I’m always pleasantly surprised how much time has elapsed. Hope you keep up the running habit going forward and again, well done for completing 😊
congratulations! I used to only enjoy the run at the end 🤣 but now I actually look forward to the actual run, what I still don’t like is the getting ready and out there part 🙈 good luck with your fitness goals and keeping healthy ☺️
