Sending out a big virtual high 5 to anyone starting over / again / for the very first time!! 🙌
I graduated from c25k this time last year and was well on my way to 10k but covid struck in February. Secondary infections, pleurisy, and then problems with nerves in my neck mean I've been inactive for 9 months.
Thumbs up from the physio this week to start gently, means I dusted off my trainers, reset the c25k app and got out in the sunshine this morning 😊 I've had to make peace with going right back to the beginning and my head thinks I should be going faster than my body is ready for. But do you know what... it felt amazing just to be moving and the boost to my mental health is immeasurable 🤸
So massive respect to anyone out there, for whatever reason, that's starting out. We got this 💪 Wk1R1 in the bag!

Such a great post and brilliant that you’re back out there again. I can feel the positivity radiating from your update! Take it slow and you’ll be back where you want to be. We’re all ready with our virtual pom poms to cheer you along.
You might have seen this already but there’s a brilliant little guide to the programme here with lots of helpful hints and tips. Well worth a refresher read. Most important is keeping it slow and steady at a pace where you can talk in full sentences without gasping. Most of us go too fast!
Keep us updated with how you’re getting on and massive good luck for your next run ❤️ 💪 🏃♀️
I’ve recently restarted too. I had previously got up to running a 5k Parkrun each week with an occasional 10 k BUT after injury & covid and life getting in the way I completely stopped running. I’m really enjoying getting back out and running. I Week 3 here I come. I’ve been volunteering at Parkrun whilst I’ve not been running but am looking forward to getting back to running
So good to hear you're able to get back out there, it's such a good feeling isn't it! And massive kudos for volunteering while you couldn't run. What a fab way to do something positive while you were recovering 😊
What an uplifting note. Great to hear about the part of this community that manage to get out there again after illness, injury etc. I've tried for the second time to get going again after back problems. I get to the end of week one and I'm in pain again. I have started pilates now which should help me along and then I will be able to get out there pain free to join my fellow runners.
Thanks , hopefully I will be out there with my tomato red face shortly 👍
It's good to know you are not alone, and others are also experiencing the struggle back from illness or injury. Take it slowly and don't put too much pressure on yourself. Pilates sounds a great idea. I'm sure I'll be hanging around week 1 for a while, I'm not expecting to make the same linear progress I did last year. But that's ok. It will take us as long as it takes, and we can cheer each other on in the meantime 😊
