Week 5, run 3 completed and still going good

I completed C25K week 5, run 3 on Thursday. Although I was conscious of the ’step-up’ from previous runs it feels what has helped me keep going is pre and post stretching, and having a bit of a ritual before and after running to help me get into my running state of mind.

It is so encouraging to hear from other people who have got through or who are getting through C25K.

My simple ritual includes noting in my diary all the runs for C25K and having my running shoes and socks in a box (that I call my ‘running box’), which I take out before and put back and after each run. I keep my running clothes on my running box and this all seems to help me focus my mind not just before each run but also helps me think of running and what I’m trying to achieve on non-running days. It might sound a bit obsessive to others but for me it feels this simply ritual is helpful. Another part of my ritual is that I use some breathing/mindfulness exercises as a way to find gratitude for my achievements with each run or gratitude for my health (mind, body, soul) that running is helping me with.

I’m using the NHS weight loss app, which is helping me lose weight and I’m half way to reaching my weight loss goal.

The treadmill is serving me well for now, although I am beginning to find it a little restricting. I’m going to stick with it for now but feel it is a bit of another personal goal to ’run free’ surrounded by the greater outdoors and nature when the time feels right for me.

All together, I’m finding that completing the C25K is working on lots of different levels in my life and it is still going good.

This is a great post to read! I’ve also got a running box with all sorts of kit in it now. You’ll probably find as you go through the seasons, you accumulate all sorts of extra bits and pieces. It’s great to have it in a grab and go place to make it as easy as possible to get out of the door.

You’re doing brilliantly. Keep it up! Sometimes people struggle on week 6 after the massive high of week 5. Often people (including me!) go too fast when then see it’s intervals again. Make sure you keep it nice and steady and you’ll be grand.

Congratulations on completing week 5A great run to get under your belt .

Take your time with week 6 runs 1 and 2 as they often catch people out with going back to intervals .

Oh, be prepared for needing a bigger and bigger running box as you progress 😁

What a positive post Be-luga-whale 😁. You seem to have everything covered! I wish I was organised enough to have a running box, although if I’m having a super super early run, I do get everything out the night before. I’m so pleased you are finding the running is having an impact on other parts of your life too, running has changed so many people’s lives for the better. Best of luck with your next run, and who knows, you may get outside to do one before too long! 😁😁😁
