I can’t believe that I have done it! This morning was bright and chilly and I set off down by the canal. I walked faster than I ever have in my 5 minute warm up and wished at one point that I had a pair of gloves with me (do runners wear gloves 🤷🏻♀️). Only one near mishap when the owner of two dalmations let them come and say hello to me as I was in the last 5 minutes of my run.
I’m feeling very proud of myself and will not feel at all guilty for sitting and embroidering all afternoon
The photo is my finish line, a bit blurry as I didn’t want to pause my 5 minute walk.

thank you so much, badge claimed. My trainer at the gym I go to has posted his congratulations on Instagram, teasing slightly as every time over the last few years that he upped the speed on the treadmill I insisted that I don’t do running 🫣
What an absolutely beautiful & awesome place to complete your 9:9!! Congratulations 🥳 As you relax with your embroidery all sorts of happy feel good emotions will be coursing through you. Truly a wonderful moment!!! Enjoy!! Absolutely runners do wear gloves & other warm things around their necks as we move into colder weather.. A whole wonderful adventure awaits you now…
Thank you Annieapple, you can tell I’m a rookie can’t you, I didn’t start running by the canal until I realised that I would never finish if I tried to continue up the hills near home 🤣
🤣🤩 Your consolidation runs will strengthen your legs to get up those hills.. plan & think about your next embroidery project & before you know it you will be at the top👍🥳
yes, I was thinking about going back to my earlier routes for some consolidation runs, maybe alternating with the lovely canal path. I think I need to slow down (I’ve read that a lot on here) in order to keep going, it’s the kind of long never ending incline. You don’t want to know how many embroidery projects I’ve already got in progress 🤣
Congratulations, BeadEmbroiderer , on finishing C25K! And what an absolutely stunning finish line! Enjoy your celebration!
Pockets go very well with those gloves 😉 although sometimes I've considered adding a string, like little kids have, so I can just let them hang by my hands...
thank you Kate, I see you are from Winchester, where the famous Louisa Pesel worked on the embroidered cushions and kneelers for the cathedral (she’s also the subject of a book by Tracy Chevalier), yes I’m a bit more geeky about embroidery than running 🤭
Thank you! It really is a good feeling, like you I’m in my 60’s and I didn’t really think I would ever do the 30 minutes, I do go the gym regularly but the treadmill has never been my thing only ever used to warm up before the ‘real’ exercises 🫣
thank you, I’ve been reading the FAQ post about consolidation and quite looking forward to repeating the 30 minute run until it doesn’t feel quite so hard
Thank you, I couldn’t stop smiling all day and telling people who didn’t even know I’d started doing this. Note made about gloves, it took ages before I could feel my fingers yesterday 👍
Thank you and good luck with your final run. I have to admit that it was the only one where I felt nervous before I started it, that what if I fail at the final hurdle, despite having done the run twice already. The elation at the end really surprised me! I didn’t expect to meet another embroiderer, we must swap notes at some point 🪡🧵
Thank you. Yes it is lovely down there, a few people walking dogs and the occasional bike, and it sometimes sounds like the ducks are either cheering or laughing as I pass by not sure which 😂
Thank you! Looking back to anyone else it must have appeared funny with the dalmations, they weren’t on leads and came bounding towards me, they split and went one either side wagging their tails and trapping me, I was determined not to stop so took a few smaller slower steps to part them and then carried on, meanwhile their owner just stood and watched 🤷🏻♀️
