We book a secure field for the dog to have a run and game of ball for an hour because going out in the dark gets a bit boring. So off we went, daughter dog and I. Willow stayed home in the warm. We went to London for Willows new car today and we are both full of cold.
They’ve cut the grass, so after a walk round to measure, 400 metres, let the dog off the lead and he played ball while I ran round the field, on the way we had a sandwich and packet of crisps, my nose is blocked and Im a bit achey so probably not sensible but lots of fun. I set off way too fast, slowed down, soft spongy grass underfoot, cool air on arms, birdsong all around, it was lovely, get back to start, pull on a couple of jumpers and join in the dog games while we keep walking. At one point as I was the other end of the field the dog took off across towards me, then he turned went back and caught the ball. That’s good, we don’t want him chasing runners, it’s a slow process but he’s learning.
Back to work tomorrow and 3 days til the weekend and hopefully well enough for a long slow run.
Keep well all, it’s cold and flu season. Run or rest happy 😃

Yes, hopefully a good run at the weekend for both of us Floss. Flipping jabs, we’d both booked but cancelled first Willows when he went down with second cold in 3 weeks then mine when I followed. I saw consultant yesterday and as it’s a few months waiting I wasn’t going to cancel, he was very interested in my drippy nose and thought it might be connected to lump in mouth, I didn’t mention it’s not usually this bad, CT scan booked 😀
At least now we know the distance dog will run away from daughter towards runner before turning back, we will now work on reducing the distance, he’s so much more relaxed when out now
Good for the dog for exercise and for your run around field.take it easy you don’t want to go down with flu. You’ll have dog on a lead shortly jogging along side you. I would trip over the lead or even the dog. Hope your ok for your run at weekend , take care
Thank you, I’m staying in the warm and dosing myself with vitamin c now as this doesn’t get any better. He’s my daughters dog and he would run alongside me but only if there’s no one about, hence testing his reaction to a runner
that looks like a lovely place to run Sola, and very sensible to find a secure place take the dog while he’s still learning ! Enjoy your run at the weekend- and I hope you both feel better soon!
Thank you OGR, it doesn’t get any better so we are being old and pathetic for a few days to heal. I’m sure feeling healthy will return. Ah the dog, he’ll probably always be a work in progress but a delightful one
