You’ve got this (still running)

I finished couch to 5k on 12th May and have been running on since then. Took some downtime from posting on here but wanted to say hi to everyone and confirm that I’m still out there running.

Since May, I have kept up the runs, running 3 times a week (with a little break to let my hip settle as the mileage increased). And a few milestones have been passed since the end of C25K:

- Knocked more than 4 minutes off my 5km PB

- Have run 8km in less than an hour

- Most importantly, kept going

So for everyone at the start or in the middle of your 5km/ 30 minute journey, just know that you can do this.

On 10th March I did week 1 run 1 and had to go to bed for a sleep immediately afterwards. I was absolutely demolished by the running sections. Today I did a continuous, somewhat hilly, windy 5km at the coast and got my best time on it.

You’ll get fitter and you’ll hit milestones you never thought you could do.

You’re stronger than you know.

The plan is amazing and you’re just starting on a whole new life. Sometimes it’s not easy but it’s always worth it.

Please trust the process.

You’ve got this.

Well done on keeping up the habit and it is nice to see my old stamping ground of Whitley Bay and Tynemouth.

Keep running, keep smiling.

Thanks. Spanish City is looking beautiful since they renovated it. And that part of the coast is always beautiful, even if it is almost always super windy

Running while smiling (often). Smiling after running (always)

How good to see you here and know you are still running

It’s not always easy to break inertia and get out there but it is always worth it.

Yes always worth it

Thanks. You’re so close to the end of C25K and the start of new adventures afterwards. Keep going and enjoy the journey

I do think I may have the running bug …….. I get twitchy if life potentially gets in the way of my next run! 😂. Going to buy myself some new trainers when I graduate 😁

yep, it’s definitely a bit addictive

Thanks. Had some lovely runs but some of them haven’t been as photogenic. Running York city walls was a highlight though

Ooh, I bet, I remember walking them as a child.

Great views and nicely sectioned to make it easy to tick off the distance.

good to see that you are still running, well done! I lost motivation after graduating and have only run a handful of times since. I really need to get back out there again

I’m sure you’ll get back to it. I did that last time I learned to run so I really wanted to make sure I kept going. Having a running coach for some accountability and guidance has definitely helped.

Thanks. Been enjoying following your runs

Well done I’m so happy to hear that you kept going. I’m sure I’m not the only one who has missed your posts and pictures you went off the radar for such a while but I’m sure you enjoyed the break just to concentrate on yourself and why not.

I have had to stop running meantime but keeping fit with a new program using other machines and weights. Not letting the “not being able to run” distract me from my goals I can still improve my health and fitness in other ways.

Thank you for the positive post I too HAVE GOT THIS..

You have definitely got this. Running is just one way to get fit and whether it’s the trigger or something for the longer term, it’s part of the journey.

Hi Vespina this is great to know as ive just done my first run after my graduation. I love the photos as i look over and see the priory from my neck of the woods. Thanks for the encouraging report. 😀

I found it an adjustment to running without the programme. How did you find it? Nike Run Club gave me the same helpful coaching with absolute freedom to choose the run I wanted. Best of both worlds.

Amazing to have a view of the priory. I have a metro journey to be able to see it.

it is a bit of an adjustment but i just set my alarm and just listened to some music. At the moment im back in spain until December so warmer weather for running doing two runs a week to see how i adjust. I must admit i edgy if i dont get out . Definitely got the running bug 😅

That sounds like a great plan. And that running mindset has clearly kicked in.

thank you for the inspiration Vespina - I’ve just woken up to pouring rain and dark skies but your post has got me in the mode and I’m just having a quick brew before setting off. I do slow running- graduated a few weeks ago - for me the challenge at the moment is to just keep up 3 runs a week after enjoying some wonderful summer runs but as autumn and winter start to emerge it gets harder and my bed gets more tempting!

I know that feeling. I have been known to run at 10pm because I’ve spent so long procrastinating but I never regret going.

Enjoy your run. Watching a friend’s little boy splashing in puddles yesterday reminds me there’s still fun to be had in the wet.
