tried slow jogging (as seen on YT), put on a metronome to help keep the steady beat. Could be coincidence but I felt more comfortable at the end of the run and had a faster time.
Definitely going to try it again for my last (hopefully) graduation run. 🤞

I was very interested In your run with a metronome as I am too interested in slow jogging.I've just finished reading Slow Jogging by Hiroaki Tanaka, the self-experimenting Japanese scientist you saw running on YT.
I'm just about to start jogging again after hurting my back. You mentioned a metronome. I didn't realise they existed for running. I just thought they were for playing a piano or guitar etc?
Was that just a figure of speech or did you have an actual metronome?
Hi Birra1, you can get an app, I have an iPhone but think you can get android version. I also watched a YouTube video of a group of Polish instructors practising slow jogging it was there I heard what sounded like a metronome. I’m going out tomorrow for what I hope is my graduation run, so I’ll try it again, see if it was just a lucky fluke 😂 hope you manage to get into running again without messing your back up.
Wow, thanks for that. I have an Android phone. I have found a free app. Brilliant. When I get a chance later I will have a look at the slow jogging book. I'm sure it gave an optimal pace somewhere in there. Thanks again.
Excellent, definitely worth a look. I did complete my final run, but my goodness it felt like hard work, just one of those runs… good luck finding something that works for you.
Hi, I’m no expert but I listened to the video and the speed of the tapping I could hear then matched it up roughly to beats on the metronome app, it was around 170. However somewhere there might be a ‘science’ behind the timing. The 170 suits my slow pace.
By the way, I got some proper Lab love yesterday. A large yellow Labrador bounded up to me in the woods, demanded tickles, then decided to softly mouth my wrists.
"He does that to everyone, the big soft lump."
I used to have one so I was used to it, but others might have been intimidated.
