Wow! Don’t get me wrong, this morning was hard work and the first run where I’ve been close to stopping before the end timer. But I didn’t, I cannot believe the progress I’ve made. Well done and thank you to those who gave us this support programme to make this happen! Roll on week 7 😊

Wow, if that pic was your run then I'm very jealous. Well done, I did the same run yesterday and can't believe it either! Although I stopped to water a friend's garden on the way home and think I was too late doing my cool down exercises so I'm definitely feeling it this morning. Hopefully a rest day or two and I'll be good. Bring on Week 7!

Well done.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

Counterintuitively, it is an easy conversational pace running that builds your stamina and endurance, not fast running.

Say this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.

You may find distraction helpful, so that the last things you think about are time and the physicality of running. If music doesn't do it, try podcasts or audiobooks. I used to give myself a running commentary on everything that I could see, hear, feel and smell as I ran, in full florid sentences.

I have managed to find a pace that doesn’t cause me to be out of puff, I often run with my dad cycling alongside and we can and often do chip in with the odd comment when running which helps me keep that in check. I often surprise myself when I realise I’ve found that rhythm of breath and foot, it’s hard not to focus on that too hard for it to be fluid according to my needs throughout the run. I do find it incredible just how the mental blockers are the biggest challenge. I know physically I am ok, my brain is almost 3 weeks behind asking “are you sure you can manage this”?!

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 6, you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER, onwards and upwards to week 7 which are all 3 /25 minute runs, not long now until you graduate.
