how do I help myself

Sorry about your situation Tyton, a lot of doctors are recommending exercises rather than just giving patients pills and more pills, as you have posted your message here on C25K you could try going short to medium walks then if you enjoy that start the C25K training program, good luck.

Welcome to the forum, but I suspect that you did not intend to post on a forum for new runners.
If you click the nine white dots, My Hub icon at the top of the page, you can browse other communities which may be more appropriate to your query.
However, most on this forum will advocate exercise, whether walking, running, cycling etc, as being an excellent way to change the chemical balance of their bodies. Many of our members run to keep depression at bay and nearly all have noticed significant positive changes in their mental health, just by exercising regularly.
If you are interested then this guide to the life changing Couch to 5k training plan might be a help healthunlocked.com/couchto5... It also includes a link to the Active 10 walking programme, which might be a more appropriate place for you to start.
The programme is empowering and this is one of the most supportive online communities that you could ever come across.
Best wishes.

You've posted on a health-related forum Tyton so that's a good start, and do have a look at the advice re Couch 25k and other Health Unlocked forums already posted.

What you have written shows how very difficult life is for you at the moment Tyton. Whether you meant to post here or not, I'm glad you managed to put into words how you are feeling.
Hi there Tyton, I’d agree with what others have posted above about getting out for a walk if you can. Just start with a short one and see how you get on. It’s ideal weather now, not too hot but still nice and sunny.
I started walking after my heart attacks, initially just a 5 minute potter around the block, then gradually picking up the distance.
2 years on I’m still walking but now do a daily 3 mile circuit in 52 mins. You meet lots of people on the walks and nearly all say good morning and many have a chat too.
It’s a habit now and if I don’t go out I miss it and the good feeling it gives..
Take care and hope all goes well…
thank you its nice to no you are not the only one left standing. i am going to try a potter round the hamlet this afternoon. Writing the piece I did somehow released some sort of blindness I had squired. Mind be awhile before I am running. I always remember leaving the hospital after my first heart attack them saying you will run again but never for a bus. Thought how strange but true any stress and speed disappears. thank you.
Yup I feel a bit of a fraud in here as I started couch to 5 k twice…but gave up after a few weeks each time.I think my jogging style was out so I speed walk instead…I’ve been looking at the videos for slow jogging but haven’t started them yet..
I’m just under 20st now…and that’s good as I was almost at 23st at my heaviest.
Walking has a better effect than going on the exercise bike I find as well for me.
Keep us posted with how you get on, there’s lots of positive encouragement in here…
remember the longest journey starts with a single step..👍👍
