Week 1 Run 1

Let me introduce myself...6 months ago found out my husband was cheating, I realised that for 10 years I had been living for someone else, so I took control over my life. I moved out of the marital home, filed for divorce and after just over 3 months of sofa surfing I found my perfect home at the beginning of the year. I decided that 2022 was my year, my year to discover who I am and who I want to be. I started powerlifting and quickly realised to improve my lifting I would have to improve my cardiovascular health, hence starting the couch to 5k. This year is my year to finally reach my goals and be the person I want to be! So today a big milestone reached...first run completed despite wanting to give up almost straight away 🙈

Hey!! Well done on making the first steps to a new you! It can be hard mentally going through emotional stress so hopefully the running will also be good for your emotional wellbeing while you’re going through a tough time - as well as physically. Good luck with the rest of your running journey 💪🙌. Onwards and upwards 😉

Welcome and good luck Fitin2022.

I can’t guarantee you’ll love running but you will feel inordinately pleased with yourself after each run. And that’s important for you right now, feeling good about yourself. Take it slow.

Here’s to your new start 🥂

It sounds like things are on the upswing for you. You can't go wrong in prioritizing your health and wellbeing. The journey is not always easy but it's definitely worth it. Good luck to you and hope that you continue to discover the person you want to be.

Fantastic, running is awesome and week 1 run 1 nearly killed us but can now run steadily for well over an hour on a good day

Good for you! One thing I learned doing this programme is that your brain tries to talk you out of doing it or to tell you that you can't do it - don't listen! Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, if it feels too difficult slow down (even if you think you are going too slow already) just keep going. You can do this!
