W7r2 postponed again, an Alpine crossing instead!

Postponed w7r2 to do a day hike today, Tongariro Alpine crossing. Its a 8-9hrs hike (19.5km), completed it in 7hrs including breaks.

Did scrape my knee & palm while trying to balance myself coming down a steep slope of loose rocks & dirt. Its mostly a volcanic terrain with craters, lava fields, alpine lakes filled valleys & the peak is about 1900mtrs above the sea level (the start point is 1000mts above sea level). It was a bit challenging at times but absolutely loved it.

Shins are not sore anymore but my knees & legs have been used quite a bit today so I will probably give a couple of days rest to my legs to recover before I start w7r2. Hopefully will find some good running shoes by then.

Not really a relaxing day off from running, then! Looks like a great place to be. I think that kind of a hike is a great way of training for your running but a couple of days to recover sounds a good idea.
