Slow Jogging, over 50 and sore toes

On my final week, ran today for 30 minutes 4.24 km, so not quite 5km but feeling good. Slow jogging for sure. My only trouble now is sore toes on my left side. Quick google search I think I have metatarsalgia. So I guess sadly stop running for a while and make a visit to the podiatrist. Trying to find that sweet spot in exercising where I can improve my health and wellness but not injure myself and cause wear and tear on my body ahh....

You're so wise to get that problem checked out 🙂 you'll be back running, hopefully asap

Are you wearing proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis?

Do you have a thumb's with between you toes and the front of your shoes?

Yes I have proper running shoes, gait analysis and shoes bought from a specialised running shop in Edinburgh. Yes I have I have a thumb's width between my toes and the front of my shoe. I do know my left side is my weak side after being back and forward to physio for knee and back pain in the past.

Thank you, but not quite 5k😀. In time hopefully speed up.

Very good. Now allow yourself to take it more gently. 4.24km in 30 minutes isn't slow.

There's no requirement at all to do 5km on your final run.

If your heart is set on the 5k badge I would in the first instance not look to increase your speed but just extend your time. Speed you can then work at as comes naturally over time
