Ok so I am thinking of starting the couch to 5k I have not ran in a really long time, I am definitely not as fit as I used to be but last time I started this journey I ended up having shin splints.
This makes me nervous because I can still feel the pain it caused. So any tips so that I donβt do this again.
Also any recommendations on running shoes and perhaps a light running jacket π€¦ββοΈπ€·ββοΈ.
Thanks so much π

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.
Shin splints are caused primarily by the impact of running and there is advice in the guide about minimising it, as well as a link to a post about buying running shoes.
So pleased you've got the courage up to try again βΊοΈI had shin splints on my first attempt.. I just wasn't properly prepared.
I realized I had to slow right down, and done strength training on non run days.. this made all the difference..I managed to graduate and have been running consistently for more than a year now.. it is a lot of trial and error, keep asking for advice after each run if you need to π
Not much advice on running gear π€£ I've just made it up as I went on x
