Hi all!

I haven't posted ANYTHING for a very long time.

So... I've had over 3weeks of break. Work, family, holidays.

This morning I went for my R2 in W7 and I must say... it was SO DIFFICULT! My legs cooperated (well done legs) but my lungs 😳😱😫! I run very slowly knowing it won't be easy after such a long break but even then it was difficult. I had to think how I'm breathing to keep my body moving. Than someone rang me and my headphones disconnected 😭 and for the last 4min of my run I listened to my own almost gasping breath 🀣.

Overall - lesson learnt... Don't allow too long between runs πŸ˜‰

Well done you...and sometimes we don't have a choice... just take it slow and steady :)

Well done.

You may think you are going slowly, but if you cannot breathe deeply and fully to the extent that you can speak aloud clear ungasping sentences as you run, then you are going too fast.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

Counterintuitively, it is easy conversational pace running that builds your stamina and endurance, not fast running.

Say this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.

Well done for getting towards the last stage of the programme. Regulating speed can be a bumpy ride at this stage. You have built strength in your legs, but if you're gasping you're not going to enjoy it at all! It's tricky to assess how fast you're going sometimes and on the forum are lots of posts, even from those who've been running for a long time, telling themselves off about setting off too fast. So please do slow down completely and the next run will feel more relaxed.

😊

Well done for getting out there! Maybe dropping back to W6R2 might have helped?

Hi pe_stopa , if you had three weeks' break and restarted C25K where you left off, it's no wonder you found it tough, so well done! See how you get on from now, but don't be afraid to go back to an earlier week and rebuild if necessary.

Not what you're looking for?
