Just completed day 1 of couch to 5k.

I’ve really let myself go and it has impacted me massively, I’m gutted to be the way I am. Time to do something about it!!

Congratulations on completing run 1 of week 1 of C25K and welcome to the forum, take all the runs slowly, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, good luck for your running journey with C25K 😊 🏃🏾

Great!

I had let myself go too, and that’s why I did C25k. I ended up in pretty good shape. It wasn’t the running that did it, not at first, I wasn’t running enough to actually lose any weight. Rather, it was that whenever there was a second helping on offer, I was thinking, “Do I want to be carrying that with me on my next run?” And because I was really enjoying the running it became easier to eat sensibly.

Anyway, I only started because I wanted to be able to run a 5k, then I was going to stop. But I liked it so much I kept going. And going, and going…. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it too.

Your post is an excellent demonstration of C25K can be a 'gateway' to weight loss, not by way of the running itself, but by wanting the running to feel better.

Well done!

Welcome Chris. You've taken the hardest step already - you've stepped off the sofa. Take it slowly, follow the guidelines (they are there to keep you safe and help you succeed), don't be afraid to redo a run or even a whole week if you need to, and don't get too obsessed about the 5k in 30 minutes goal.........not that many polled actually do it. Indeed I still can't do it now, but I can run 30 minutes and even a bit more 3-4 times a week when back in June I couldn't even run if a tiger had been chasing me!!

Welcome to the next journey. You will soon start to feel better about yourself not through loosing weight although that does happen slowly, but you will have a great sense of achievement. Keep going and keep posting
