Hi, I'm unfit....very unfit.....out of breathe very quickly and tired all the time. I don't feel my age of 41 I feel like an unfit 61. This needs to change....I need to change.....so here goes. Couch to 5K is the next step....admitting I need to do this was my first....wish me luck
And so it begins.......: Hi, I'm unfit....very... - Couch to 5K
And so it begins.......
You don't need luck. You need faith in yourself. You need to follow the programme. You need to keep posting on the forum and (most of all) You need to step out the door and do it *
*and you can you know
I agree. Just get out there. Don't worry about getting the right gear, picking best time to go, or anything else, just do it, now, if you can. Don't sleep on it, plan it or psych yourself up, walk out the front door, earbuds in and to hell with everyone and everything else for 30 mins.
Remember, " You don't have to be great to start, but you do have to start to be great"😀
Take it really slow and when you have done the first walk/run/jog/shuffle combo, report back here and I guarantee you will love the response you get. Now go!!!!👍🏼👍🏼🌟😀🐢🏃🏻🐢🏃🏼♀️
Yes, just do it! It'll be tough and you'll think how am I going to get through this let alone run 5k? It's too much! But, with loads of grit & determination you will! I as an unfit 60 year old until I did this and my wife also needed more excercise and did it at 61.. you'll reap the benefits of your hard work! Just remember to go slow n steady, that's key! Do not worry about speed or distance, just a comfy pair of shoes and thin clothing to start with.. 😊
Welcome!!!
You are not the first... and by heck you will not be the last. You are totally in the right place for support, empathy, sympathy, support and encouragement and the odd shove out the door
Slow, steady, take your rest days, listen to your protesting body and add some extra rest day exercise too
Keep posting and good luck, (you don't need it),you have taken the hardest step) Doing this
Good luck! I was in your position 7 weeks ago, now I'm running further than I ever have in my life before, and am not instantly out of breath. It's a wonderful feeling when you realise you are progressing. Go at a pace you're comfortable with and enjoy the benefits of feeling healthier - it's a program that works - the people you'll connect with on here are living proof!😀
Oh, and I love your cat. I had one just the same until we lost her in 2014, aged 20!!! Adorable to the very end 🐈🐈
You'll do great...if I can get to the end of week six...anyone can. You have a great strength of support and motivation on this forum too 👍🏻
It was my first week this week & just getting out of the door made me feel like I'd achieved something 👍 Like the others have said - just go for it at your own pace but do it whatever. The app is really motivational and along with some banging tunes it gets you through.
Great thought....... brilliant choice of programme.........stupendous support on this forum......Get going!!!
Remember, if you have problems breathing, slow down. If you don't complete a particular run, then you simply repeat it until your body develops enough to finish, then you move on to the next workout. Always take at least one rest day between sessions and above all, believe that this programme can turn you into a runner. You are in control and this, while it will seem like hard work at first, can transform your life.
Good luck.
The others have said it all. This thing will change your life in so many ways. And you're so lucky that you're only 41! I wish I'd found running at that age.
Good luck. And I love your cat 😘
