Welcome, well done and keep it up, running has lowered my blood pressure significantly and it wasn’t high to start with, just one of the many benefits of running
My BP varies throughout the day, as does my heart rate. My resting HR has gone down by approx 10bpm in the last 18 months.
I took a BP measurement a few days ago and had to go and look up the "normal" range as it seemed too low for me. (It was OK.)
Increased activity leads to increased fitness, and that will have all sorts of benefits.
I'm another person that has seen positive benefits to my blood pressure, and in a very short space of time, although my systolic range is still at the upper end of acceptable for woman of my age.
I started my journey in June and graduated at the end of August. I'm now doing consolidation runs whilst I think about where I want to take running in the longer term, but have definitely formed a habit that I hope to keep for life now.
I'm 62 years old and still obese, although nowhere near as heavy I was three months ago (I'm 13lbs down now with dietary changes) and I was at the upper range of "acceptable" BP (borderline needing meds to lower it) and pulse rate. My resting pulse rate has dropped 5/6bpm from 72 to between 64 and 66 - some days are lower than others - and my BP is consistently lower than it was three months ago.
The GP has decided to put on hold the need for meds for hypertension and blood sugars (I was diabetic, but now I'm pre-diabetic and fasting HbA1C is still gradually falling), so overall diet and running have reaped massive benefits for me.
And that's not even touching on the mental health improvements that I have experienced - that's whole new post!!!
Good luck with your journey. Keep popping in and touching base. If you find yourself struggling, ask for help, there are some amazing people on here who will be more than happy to guide you and share the ups and downs!
