Hi All. Well, I've just finished Week 3 of the NHS 12 week Fitness programme and thoroughly enjoying it. I've tried quite a few programmes and always seem to feel that they are aimed at younger people and that they progress too quickly which results in me stopping usually due to an injury and feeling quite defeated. I'm not going to lie - I do feel a little nervous for the 5 min runs next week, but I'm going to give it my all regardless. Thanks Laura for being a 'normal' human and not some super hyped fitness freak yelling instructions at us. Looking forward to a changed me in 9 weeks time.

I live on a farm in the Karoo in South Africa so no parks with benches & fences nearby. The pic below is of a Poplar Grove near our house which has stumps and trees which I use instead.

Thank you. This is truly an awesome community for beginner / non-competitive runners. The information available and support are definitely very encouraging.

Ah well done MerryLynette! I love reading about all the different places people run, and that looks lovely, especially with all the useful tree stumps 😃. The NHS app is just brilliant, and will have prepared you for your 5 mins next week for sure. Go nice and slow and you’ll smash it! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Unfortunately, the app is only available for those living in the UK, but I'm making do with the pdf's. It would be great to have access to the app though.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the programme. I find if I don't have a programme to work through I don't keep at it. There is a 12 week weight loss programme too: nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we...
