First outside run for me today as completed the whole program on a dreadmill. I’m nervous that I won’t be able to run/jog as fast (which actually is very slow!) as I do on treadmill. Doing it with a friend so also hope they won’t get frustrated with me and my snails pace🤪. I do hope though that I will find it less boring than the treadmill and it will give me the push to carry on running.

Take it steady at your pace you will love it
I really hope so as I do find the treadmill incredibly boring!
Look around you, breathe the fresh air, take pictures at the end and let us know how you get on
Will do..if I can still breathe 🤣🤣
go slow
Did it! Found it hard and had to walk twice for minute or two but completed my first outdoor 5k. Very pleased. 👏
That is fantastic 👏 👏👏

Well done !You will certainly find it 'Different' running outside and it may take a few runs to get used to be it.
But I wouldn't worry about trying to maintain the same pace that you would do on the treadmill.
The treadmill is a nice flat belt with no lumps and bumps and no cambers to contend with , and of course, no wind resistance !
Keep at it , I'm sure you will soon get used to it .

Things to look out for:
* Slopes. They'll catch you out as you're not used to handling them. Take shorter steps, and be especially careful going downhill.
* Uneven ground, obstacles, and "muck". Keep half an eye on where you're stepping. Your ankles are probably not used to sideways forces yet, so be careful.
* Be aware of your surroundings. You'll learn more about your neighbourhood than you thought you knew.

We are doing what is the local park run and luckily it is flat all the way round so no hills or slopes thank goodness👍
So glad you posted this, I’m doing mine on a treadmill too

I completed the C25k on the dreadmill and then transferred to outside and what a difference you will find it is so much more fun and once you’ve run outside a few times I’m sure you will find it more enjoyable.
Thanks for your reply. It is very different running outside as I didn’t know what pace I was doing or how much further I had to run unless I looked at my Apple Watch. Felt fabulous when I’d finished though🤪. Think it would get easier if I learnt the route better.
Well done for graduating! I completed my C25K on the treadmill but now I'm running outside 3 times a week and I love it. I felt like I was running slow outside at first but you won't be, its just getting use to running outside. Running on a treadmill is boring, being outside has definitely kept me going once I got over myself which was just lack of confidence. Keep going!

I too ran the whole of C25k on the treadmill mainly due to the fact that I didn’t want anyone to see how slow I was at running or in a pair of shorts! Since graduating I too decided to brave it outside and I now love it! My pace is now quicker than it was on the treadmill and I love how other runners that pass me take the time to say hello. I am by no means fast but I am enjoying running so much more outside.
