Wk 9 run 2
Hi Feather7 good on you. I am on week 8 and have to admit I have found the last 2 weeks very tough. I suffer from arthritis too although mine is my hands, hips, knees, ankles and feet so not great for running. Glad to hear that it does get better and hoping after completing week 8 I am starting to feel better. Determined to finish and become a runner, although my speed I wouldn't call it running! How are you with the slow running? I am finding running slow very hard, as I previously ran on a treadmill and was a lot faster. You sound like you are doing great keep it up.
So helpful to hear how others with OA are doing. You and Feather7 are doing brilliantly. Stories like this should be more widely known - along with any tips. With grade 4 OA (on one knee only - how lucky am I) I was told by the physio that I'd never run for exercise and that I must stop my dance classes. I'm due to do w6r3 today ie the 25 mins (and a tiny bit nervous!) A couple of months ago I couldn't even run across the road due to the pain.
Hi Aerialgazelle Thank you for your reply its nice to read other people with OA and health problems you have done very well getting to w6r3 let us know how you get on and good luck
Thanks Feather7. The run went well! I find the knee hurts at the beginning of a run but actually seems to improve as it goes on. I'm hoping so much that it will continue like this, but have a concern that as the running gets longer in duration the more pounding the joint will get. Trying to support it with strengthening exercises.
Hi Truckergirl Thank you for reply i run very slow too i run on a treadmill as well but at the end of the day at least were trying our best to run better than sitting on the couch well done for finishing week 8 i hope you finish the last week let me know and good luck
I'm a treadmill girl too, being able to see timings really help push me to keep going. And I feel safer running in a safe place.
It’s wonderful to read about people conquering their impossible! Great job... enjoy your graduation run.
