Pleased with myself, second time in the last week I’ve run 5km. Slow to what I used to run at just under 40 mins, but just pleased that I can still run 5km without stopping.

Feels like a great achievement seeing as this year my motivation has taken a hit!!

Need to keep going!

Great job. I try not to run to a pace, but more to perceived effort; the effort level for a given pace can be affected by many factors (sleep, weather, nutrition, stress...) but my 5/10 effort is the same every time I run it! The hidden metric that is the most important is how did the run feel? I like them to feel as fun & easy as possible unless I am working towards some kind of event. You’re feeling great, so I guess that metric is at the top end of the scale.

To be honest, I didn’t pay attention to pace during my run, my only aim was to make 5km. I found it challenging as I’m not as fit as I was nor am I regularly running. But hopefully will change. Although not putting too much pressure on myself at the moment! :)

Cool, we don’t need pressure. You will now get the pure joy of 5k getting easy again... always a highlight of a comeback.

Good morning Sar9. Well two things spring to mind reading your post...

1. If that photo is where you run them that in itself is an inspiration to keep going... beautiful.

2. You have arthritis and therefore a fantastic achievement by someone who doesn't suffer, so massive respect and admiration... brilliant effort.

Aww thank you, what a lovely message 😊

There are some beautiful places to run by me. I couldn’t resist but take a photo.

It does feel like an achievement, especially when the rheumatology team always try encourage to find other activities to enjoy. I think it’s so important to try and do the things you enjoy, rather than exclude them. There’s no other exercise that gives you the same feeling as running, so as long as I feel I can manage running, I will!!!
