Nearly didn’t run….

After another night where I woke nearly every hour, and although I had set my alarm for a 6.30 run, I lay awake from 5am to 8am …. Turning off the alarm, hearing my son get up at 6 and go to the gym for 2 hours before work !!!…. Hearing him come home again and let the cats upstairs … having a massage from my Maine Coone cross girlie which was quite nice … and then I finally got annoyed with myself and got up. And I NEVER lie in bed once I’m awake.. don’t know what was up with me.

I’m running alongside my daughter again, although we run separately, we run on the same days and neither of us like the other one to be further ahead. So I checked and she’d already run here’s at 6.30. Hmmm still didn’t really feel like it….. then I remembered I had a Pilates lass at 8.30am ( change of times because of school hols) so I thought I’d do that and THEN run when I was nicely loosened up. And my iPad had a flat battery!!! So flat it wouldn’t even turn in when plugged in and by that time I had missed the beginning of the class ( a ZOOM class). It would have taken too long to download ZOOM on my phone so I just ended up doing some squats and other stretches to warm up and then I went out to run at 9.00!!! Late for me!!

Glad I did though as it was a beautiful morning, sunny but not too much, 13 degrees according to Garmin which is ok, and dry underfoot. I did a change of route and ran down towards our other big Park and around by the River Yeo ( instead of my usual routes along the Taw). It should have been pretty easy today . Run for 90 seconds, walk for 90, run for 3 minutes, walk for 3, repeat. But I cannot believe how hard I found it to run those 3 minute runs!!! I slowed right down , I. Fact I think my running was slower than my walking then 🤣🤣 but I did it. And I know I can do this I just cannot believe how hard it is after such a short break!!

Then I walked home noticing that there are blackberries ready to pick and the elderberries are beginning to turn. I shall have to go in a foraging expedition again soon. Ive used the last of last years blackberries from the freezer and I need to make some elderberry cordial this year. Haven’t even touched the elderberry port from last years crop!!

And then I did my stretches @IannodaTruffe and 20 minutes Pilates for runners

I must have done!! My son was so surprised when I got up. “ you’re late mum!! I thought you were out running!”

“ nope, just being a lazyarse”🙄

Hey you got up and did it in the end, which is great as you would have been so annoyed with yourself if you did not go.

That’s true. And I’ve got loads done since I got back. I always find I have more energy after a run. I even washed the car!!!

I feel the same after a run, I was out running before 7 this morning back for breakfast and a catch up on paperwork , out for another 8 mile walk like last night... But like you my sleep pattern is not good. I rarely sleep more than two hours at a time , however tired I am.

I'm always amazed at how you manage to get out and run even after such a lousy sleep. Respect!

Ive had rubbish sleep for about 30 years now . Ive just had to function like it. The only time I can sleep all night is to take amitriptyline, which I don’t like to do. Ive tried valerian, Nytol, hypnotapes, deep breathing, meditation, exercise, Pilates, milky drinks…..

I think it’s to do with my misspent youth working in clubs and bars . 🤣
