I did it! I honestly never thought 9 weeks ago that I could do this. 2 years ago I was diagnosed as type 1 diabetic and had a full knee replacement so this is a massive achievement for me.

Hi, it went well, I’ve stuck to the same route for all 3 so that I could pace myself right for this last one. Now got to keep it going😬

That's amazing.

What does running with a replacement knee feel like? That must have taken a lot of rehab and perseverance to get to this stage.

Hi John, I was really worried at first how my knee would hold out but if I’m honest it probably feels better than my proper knee! I have put a lot of work into strengthening it .

Fascinating and encouraging. How did your consultants set your expectations beforehand? Did they give you an idea of what you'd be able to do and not do ?

He said as long as I put the work in that I should be able to do pretty much anything. I was young for a replacement though (50)

Brilliant - he sounds the positive sort - just what you want.

If you don't me asking, why did you need a replacement?

I had torn my ligaments when I was in my twenties then that slowly turned into arthritis. By the end I had no cartilage left so had the replacement. Best decision I ever made.

Congratulations 🎊, always good to hear of another success and very interesting to know replacement joints can be just as affective as the real ones! Well, you never know when one will be needed, especially as you get older😉

Excellent! Stupendous! Amazing! That is such good news, especially after your health matters. I really cannot tell you how pleased I am that you have graduated, but you may get the drift! Now for a well-deserved celebration and then for your consolidation runs.

How is the diabetes? Are you managing it OK, especially with the running?

Take care, run safely and may the wind be always at your back, and the sun on your face.
