Week 7 nothing in the tank

Hello so just finished up day 2 of week 7 and I'm after some advice.

My legs are heavy all the way through the run which is making me want to quit.

I'm stretching afterwards and I've tried drinking a glass of water half an hour before but it just makes me need a wee mid run despite going before I go.

Has anyone got any tips to help?

Heavy legs are a sign of dehydration , but a glass of water just before you go out is too little too late .As a runner you need to be drinking 2.5 to 3 litres a day , even on non run days

I'm definitely drinking during the day because I take a diuretic medicine. I run first thing in the morning so a glass is all I can manage. How do morning runners get hydrated before a run?

If you are fully hydrated you shouldn't need much in the morning .But the heavy legs is a clear sign .

"I'm definitely drinking during the day"

Yes but how much ? are you drinking 2.5 to 3 litres a day ?

The diuretic medicine could of course be having an effect

I also run first thing in the morning but I'm already fully hydrated as I drink around 3 litres every day even when not running so just a small glass as soon as I get up is plenty .But diuretics can cause issues for runners because of dehydration and loss of electrolytes , might be worth a word with your GP for further advice as we are not health professionals

MmeKat Drinking little and often, even on non running days is better than a lot all in one go, so if you have fully hydrated the day before I wouldn't drink in the morning before your run. I too run early and occasionally I have a small mouthful of water.

You might find this from the pinned posts in FAQs helpful on good hydration.

As Instructor57 has mentioned it maybe your medication and your GP is best placed to help you rather the random bunch on here.

Hope this helps and you can get back to enjoying your running again.

How about some dynamic stretches before the run? Getting those legs warmed up properly might help.
