Week 2 Run 2

That was tough ! but I ventured off my safe flat path into the woods and some fairly short but steep inclines. I had to stop 10 seconds short of my last run as my legs felt like lead. Should I stay on the flat paths for a while until I've improved my stamina

I know I have chosen to stay on my regular route so far as although it does have some hills, most are gradual and at least I know where they are! I'm on week 5. Some people like the variety of different routes and terrains though, so maybe go back to a flatter route for w2r3 and compare how you feel?

Thanks for the advice. I think I might :)

Well done !It might be easier on the flat for now but the inclines if you can manage them will be good for you !

Maybe just slow it down a bit more ?

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll try the same route the next time and do as you say. I need to find some music that can match my pace as I think the tracks I'm playing are making me run faster than I should .

Being a relative newbie I cant give advice, but I can say that i read somewhere to avoid hills when you're starting out and i decided to follow that advice as i think it is enough strain on my body to be doing it on the flat when just starting out. (I've just completed week 3 run 3 by the way). Good luck! - ignore that last bit, I've just done week 2 run 3. Think i'm delirious!

😀

Hi, I was really pleased with myself when I completed week 2 run 3 and was looking forward to starting week three. Work stopped me doing it the day I had planned and now its pouring with rain. I don't mind a bit of drizzle but this is way too much to go out in. I feel really frustrated. If i don't do it first thing in the morning I know I won't do it later. Have you started week three?

Hi Lindaja, yes I completed week 3 yesterday. I was also held up by the rain. I was due to do run 3 on Friday but rain just didn't let up. I started getting anxious that if I leave a gap of 2 days instead of just 1 that that would be the rot setting in and next step would be throwing the whole thing in. I am prone to catastrophic thinking 🤔 But having 2 day gap made no difference as far as I can tell and I still feel 100% committed. Long may it continue!! I also prefer first thing in the morning. Hope you got going on your week 3🙂

Yep I went out a 6pm on Friday. Really not like me to want to do anything when I get in from work. Run 2 this morning. I can't believe I'm enjoying it so much. Knees feel a little sore so I think I'll have two days rest before I tackle the third run. Good luck with week 4.
