I just started week 5 of C25K. In the past I have reset the app about 3 times, because I always get stuck on week 5. I however, I'm beginning to think that the blockage seems to be mental rather than physical. Need all the emotional support I can get !
Any tips?

Think you’ve answered your own question Marjolondon! You know you can do this; every run you’ve done so far has prepared you for the next one and you’ve done them haven’t you? In week 5 there’s what seems a massive jump from 8 to 20 minutes but if you think about it, it’s not really that big. You do a total of 15 minutes in run 1 and 16 minutes in run 2 so it’s a mere 4 minutes extra! Break that 20 down into smaller chunks if you need to. Think 5, then 5 , then 5, then only 5 more and you’re done! Keep it slow so you’ve still got energy at the end and tell yourself you can do this. Tell those gremlins to take a hike; they won’t- they’ll sit on your shoulder all the time muttering that you’ll never do this . But they say that to all of us - the hard part is not listening to them! You’re right - a lot of this is mental. If you keep telling yourself you can do it then you will. Don’t reset the app- if you need to, just go back and repeat a run or 2 but take a deep breath now and plunge in to week 5. We know you can do this! Good luck!
Hi Marjolondon , well done for sticking at it. I definitely think that once you get past a certain point, there is more of a mental challenge. Some days I just know that I am going to complete what's in front of me on that day, it's hard to put it into words. I completed WK6 R3 2 days ago, no way was I going give up , although the last 5 mins seemed to go on forever. Just follow the guidance and hints and tips and I'm sure you will get there : )
As far as I can see you WANT to do it, and you seem to know it's possible for others but you are struggling with the self belief part...
Well that's OK because that will come in time. For now, believe in the programme and find something or someone you can make a promise to, tell them "I'm going to do this". For some reason we seem to think it's OK to let ourselves down but not others. So this way when you get part way through and those little gremlins start saying YOU can't do this, you can shout back (mentally or aloud, quite up to you) I promised and I WILL do it. I don't care if you think I CAN... I'm just going to! If they still won't be quiet, remember what we did as children? I think it goes la la la la la la la I can't hear you! 👍🏻🤣🤪
Why not tweak it? If the jump from 8 to 20 is too much, why not just run for ten to start with and build up? It’s meant to be a guide, not a drill sergeant.
No great words of wisdom but honestly if I can do it (and I did on Saturday) then anyone can. I think the key is to zone out with some inspiring, up beat music, not think about the time, go super slowly (then slow down some more!), and don’t overthink it (unlike me!). Good luck, we’re all rooting for you!
