Hip niggles and the IC

About 4 months ago, both hips were niggling after a run. I ran a bit less, was poorly after the first jab, had a long distance house move, but tried to keep going. Niggles weren't going away and were bothering me at other times too. So, bit the bullet and got a physio in our new area. Reckoned a physio would be better than having a massage, as they'd diagnose and give exercises. So. I have some very weak muscles causing the problem and the hamstrings have to do too much of the work. On the IC for several weeks while I exercise, and then he suggests C25K from the start again because it will grade me back into running. Hey ho! I am missing the runners high from early morning outings but at least I can get this thing sorted and have the hope of running again later.

Oh boo. I'll budge up a bit for you. At least you know what the problem is, and what to do about it. I'm recovering from a broken ankle, and it's a weak hip that's stopping me from running now. I've also got lots of exercises to do to build up strength, the good news is I can feel that it's starting to work. Good luck!

Being diligent with the exercises does pay off. Glad you're seeing the results and hope you get off the IC before too long. Physio's promised exercises didn't come through. Probably hasn't actually got my email address!!

Oops! 😂 I'm guessing calf raises, leg raises and clamshells, in variety. I'd be terrible without my list, I keep forgetting what I'm supposed to be doing, and how many reps, etc. Restarting c25k at least has the advantage that you know it's possible. And that other people won't actually point and laugh when they see you, so you don't have to go to a deserted field before dawn (I may be exaggerating slightly but not much 😁)

No clamshells! Been doing them with a resistance band and it's not improved things. Maybe they come in later. He's not given me reps, either, just listen to my body.

Sounds pretty sensible! Good luck with it🍀

Sorry to hear about your injury. I have returned to running three weeks ago after two months on IC.My Osteopath wanted me to ease back into running and walking intervals so I decided to redo C25K. It’s been more enjoyable than I expected restarting and can see how my stamina has improved from first time. Best of luck with it all!

Week 1 was so hard and I was all embarrassed about running! It should be a whole lot better second time. Better be!!!
