C2K5 Week5 Run2

Guys, i'm new here but feel like I have to post this to get it off my chest - I am about to go on my second run of WK5 and I feel sooo nervous running for 8 minutes. Its like a little voice in my head telling me I cant do it and butterflies in my belly but deep down I know I can- I have come so far already but this week (the half-way mark) has defo been the biggest challenge for me mentally. Has anyone experienced this too?

Also, from running the last 5 weeks I have started to experience sore side muscles (not too sure what they are called, sorry) but its a tender pain on the sides of my rib cages. On my 'Rest days' i also like to do a light workout at the gym to help with my upper body strength. Is this 'side pain' normal, has anyone experienced this or similar? Are there any known remedies?

Just want to say thanks in advance for any replies to this :)

There is a little voice saying you can't, the same voice that has prevented you from doing so many things in the past! Don't let it win! Show that "gremlin" who is boss! You CAN do this... if you want it! You absolutely, positively CAN! Those pesky creatures have seen that you are about to disrupt their easy life and they will try any means to get you back on the sofa!

Is your pain muscular or stitch like? Are you twisting you body as you run with your arms going across your body, instead of pumping your arms just front to back maybe?

Wow thank you SO MUCH! Turns out all I needed was a little motivation, it was not as hard as I thought it would be. It sure is a mental barrier & you’re right...the voices want me to go back to the couch but I kept pushing :)

The pain is muscular, but after reading your comment I realised I do cross my arms when running which may be the reason why. Tried a little less motion today and will see how it goes! :D wow I feel great roll on the next run....
