My running schedule has been messed about this week due to the pubs reopening after many months of being closed. So instead of my Monday, Wednesday, Friday runs all I could fit in this week was Wednesday and today Friday.
This morning was a bit hectic and I was worried that my 'running slot' would be taken over by tasks that had to be done before the pub opened.
Although getting ready and out of the door was a bit of a rush and I had to do my warm up stretches during my warm up walk , I managed to get out and running. I must admit my heart wasn't really in it when I began but I promised myself that I'd run at least 20 minutes how ever I felt.
The first 5 minutes flew by, on my last run I took a diversion up a side road with a long gradient around a block and back to the park, today I felt so good at 5 mins I took the diversion again. Not only that I repeated the run up the short sharp incline on my return to the park which I had avoided until after I had graduated.
My watch buzzed to tell me I’d run a mile, not just under 15 minutes but also a full 40 secs quicker than on my last run. I took the sharp short climb again but this time it really took it out of me which knocked my pace down for the second half of the run.
While I only knocked 10 secs off of my overall pace and despite it being a pain to shoehorn today’s run in, it was a great run. The first mile proved to myself that I will be able to increase my pace quite easily over time. The second mile and a bit although slower will hopefully help improve my stamina.
