Week 6 run 2 has taken me three attempts to conquer! I don’t know why I found it so tough, but I’m glad I haven’t given up!! Onwards and upwards to continuous runs only from now on...I’m so disappointed that I found this run so tough, I’m apprehensive about the next few runs. I suppose it’s Gremlins winning over me, as there is no real reason I couldn’t keep going before other than coughing and wanting to vomit during my 3 min walk. As soon as I started running again, the nausea immediately subsided... persevere, I shall!!
Hope you all have an excellent day, I’m very much enjoying the post run (aka slow slow slow slow jog) endorphins now!

Runs 1 and 2 of week 6 do catch out a lot of people after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3, run 2 of week 6 is the final run with interval walks and runs, take run 3 of week 6 slowly, once you have completed it you will be officially a runner, same goes for the remaining 9 runs up to your graduation run.
Thank you AlMorr ! I actually really enjoyed the walking intervals in w6r1, but w6r2 truly and completely got me. It’s really got me down after my week 5 progress too! Let’s see how w6r3 goes. So happy to have earnt my rest day tomorrow!
If you find any run tough, just slow down..........you are in control and if you cannot speak aloud, clear ungasping sentences then you are going too fast for your current fitness level.
Thanks IannodaTruffe . I’m definitely not going too fast- every single runner overtakes me, and I’m able to speak aloud. I’ve always struggled with nausea following exercise so I think it’s just my usual default!
So happy for you! 😃 Way to break through. Keep up the great work.. you’re 1 run ahead of me, so thank you for the encouragement. Stick with it. 👏🏻 Great job!
Thanks Getnoffmycouch !! I’ve been really enjoying following your progress too (and a huge congrats on completing that 20min run!!)- you’re doing incredibly well ❤️
Doesn’t matter how many times you take to successfully complete a run, what does matter is that you don’t get disheartened by it, if it takes a few attempts- which you haven’t! So well done for that!
All the attempts do mean something though, don’t disregard all the minutes you are able to run...your body & mind are adjusting to what it’s being asked to do - and everyone adjusts differently, all these extra minutes running on your legs will help you in the future....you’re just keeping them tucked in your back pocket for now.
You already know to go slow and steady, wk6 runs 1&2 are notorious for catching people out, but once you’ve got them in the bag you’re on to run 3, and after that you’re on to week 7! So you see you are making progress!
Just remember that there is a difference between being physically unable to carry on running and mentally not wanting to carry on running. Once you can feel the difference and accept what each of them are, you are in a better place to deal with the next few runs.
Not only are you physically getting stronger and building stamina but you’re training your brain to accept what you will your body to do.
Stay strong, dig deep if you have to in order to get the run done - you will succeed. Just take each run at a time, don’t think about future runs until you get to them. You can do it! 👍🏼
Thank you lovely and wonderful SassyF - I can really relate to everything you’ve said. According to my phone, I’m slow jogging at about 5km/hr- so I think I will get there eventually, but with the emphasis on eventually!! I’m seeing this very much as in my control, and I couldn’t care less how many attempts it takes to ‘achieve’ a run- so long as I can get there at my pace. Delighted to hear you’ve got yourself some proper shoes!! That will be my treat if / when I make it to my graduation run! You’re also right though, when I don’t complete an attempted run- I’ve still gone out and done at least half of it. Gradually my fitness is improving, and there’s such a difference compared to when I initially started! Thank you for still checking in post graduation- your motivational words will continue to keep me going!!! ❤️😘
