I am fast approaching my 3rd run of week 5 this Thursday. I am a tad apprehensive if I’m totally honest but after reading some of your comments I’m feeling less so. It seems a huge leap from the 2nd run of week 5 but I can understand why people are saying it’s not.
I just have to say to myself “I can do this”

Go for it. I found talking to myself every few minutes to made sure I could do it without gasping forced me to keep my pace down. One word of warning. About the time you think you've been running 10 minutes a voice will tell you it was only five!!! By around then you will have found your pace and just keep going.
Believe me, you CAN do this. Yes, it looks daunting, but if you take it slowly and steadily you will get there. Don't try and run fast, it really will not work. S L O W L Y does it. Just try and break it down into little bits. After 2 mins you are 10% of the way. At 5 mins you are half way to the midpoint. Once you are at 10 mins it is all downhill to the end. If that doesn't work, try my method of running it - the night before my W5R3 I watched my local news [something I rarely do] and there was a Royal Marine with both legs missing and with one arm too following an IED in Afghanistan. He was on false legs and trying to run a 5K... I thought that my aches, pains and niggles really are NOTHING compared to what he is going through. The thought of him falling over, laughing and struggling to get back up spurred me on.
Thank you so much, you’re absolutely right, a very inspiring man and someone I will be definitely thinking of tomorrow. I like your idea of breaking the times down as well, that is very helpful, thank you very much.
As someone who was close to collapsing after having run 100 metres in her previous 53 years of existance, I can tell you that the announcement that W5R3 would be 20 minutes scared me......
But then again think: You've come so far. You've already built up stamina. You can do it!! Remember why you started the program.
I went through with that run and felt soooooooo proud afterwards. You can to that too. Trust the program. 💪
I felt exactly the same last week when I was facing it. I hoped I'd manage but was expecting I'd have to repeat it several times to complete it. Read lots of comments on here and took on board what they said - take it slow, be properly hydrated, trust the programme etc. One in particular said "It's four songs long" so I downloaded some of my favourite songs from the past that I hadn't heard for a while and tried to concentrate on them and the memories they brought back.... and it worked. Much to my surprise I finished the run and it's an amazing feeling. Honestly, if I can do it (very overweight and never been that active) then you definitely can and I've no doubt that you will! In retrospect, it really was more of a mental than a physical challenge. Good luck and go for it!
Thank you so much!! Well done for completing it, you’re inspiring. 🤗I’ll let you know how I get on, I like the idea of the songs, a great idea!! I’ll give that a try.
