So at long last, I have decided to ‘grow up’ and utilise a proper tool to improve my fitness and running technique.
Week 1 of Couch to 5K, run 2 completed and surprised how much effort is required, but also surprised at my pace by using a better technique, albeit not for longer than the 60 sec bursts, but easily sub 9.30 min mile pace. Typically If I do my own thing I start at 11min mile pace and get to about 9.50 at peak.
So aiming for sustaining and getting pace to enable me to sub 2hr GNR.
Good Luck everyone, we’re in this together.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
For now, just forget about measuring pace and make sure you can speak aloud clear ungasping sentences as you run.........that is the only pace you need to observe and as you get fitter that pace will increase.
Don't worry about pace. I've almost completed week 5 and still not quite covering two miles in thirty one minutes. The early stages are about learning (or remembering) how to control your breathing and certainly for many of us. Re-build the muscles and joints that have wasted away since we were last physically active.
