Still on the road to recovery update.

In my last post I used the phrase “better than getting blisters “!

Should not have spoke too soon, 3 days after refit and blister appeared on end of stump ( Doh!), left leg off to help recovery but following morning 2 more had appeared, lesson one, skin on stump more delicate than skin on foot.

Had leg socket🦿adjusted on Wednesday, still have blisters but am up to 0.08 km on treadmill. Seems like one step forward and two steps back.

Ah well we live and learn( I hope so ).

Oh ouch! Hope the blisters clear up soon - take it easy while you get used to the new leg!

I admire your tenacity, but please let those fully heal before you do anything whilst wearing your prosthesis. What you definitely don't need is an infected wound. Is there anyone in the prosthetics department who can advise? or do they have links with tissue viability nurses?

Hi Pete, as Jell6 says, best wait for full healing before you run again.. as running is so much higher impact on your stump.. infection is the last thing you want.. it could turn to sepsis.. it’s seriously dangerous.. I’ve had memorably painful cellulitis and you wouldn’t want that..

Did you talk to the prosthetist about the right liner/sleeve for you for running? I now have Iceross Synergy pin liner which is much more stable and secure for running - but my stump gets too cold in it which is also a bit dangerous leading to loss of feeling.. so I’m waiting for better weather before I run much in it.. I’m alternating between the Iceross Comfort liner for long walks (no running) and shorter ones with the Synergy (just 3.75km today incorporating just a few minutes running).. best to be patient.. take care.. 😊

Aw, mate! 😐Look after yourself now. I tell you what, I really want to tell you to be patient and don't rush it, but then you'll have to tell me the same!
