janda's new world record, still on the road to Hackney

With two weeks to go before the next Half Marathon I thought I'd pop down to my local park on Saturday ...

... and I did it again. Having finally got through the 24 minute barrier for the first time last week I set my Garmin to pace me through another attempt at a fast time. Unbelievably I managed to shave another 11 seconds off. I was a little unsure about whether I should do Parkrun in the first place, worrying that a second pacy run ahead of Run Hackney might not be so good, having been injured before last year's half marathon. But I am a lot stronger than I was then and went for it. The sprint finish was what got that time down but it was the hardest I've run for a long time. And it was worth it in the end, making me think that with proper focus on this distance I could get that time down further still. First things first though.

I've attached the link for Garmin though the time and distance had to be put in manually to match the official time and distance:

connect.garmin.com/modern/a...

Last long run before the big race was Sunday: 100 minutes (17.35k and pretty hard work doing the 'five parks') followed by whatever runs are due this week then taper down. Can't wait.

Keep on running!

Blimey that's brilliant Janda. You were flying! Great action shot too even though you look so chilled!

Thanks Irishprincess. All the photos at Parkrun were hopeless bar this one which doesn't show the sheer effort going into this run!

Wow your are going great guns. I will wave as you fly past me. I've done my last long run too and starting to taper down. I am quite nervous and excited at the same time. It's going to be a good day. Happy running.

Doing Hackney too then? I really can't wait. My training has been really good so far, making p for the disappointment last time round. Good luck to you.
