I'm so frustrated I couldn't start WK3 this afternoon ( 3 weeks ago you would never hear me saying I was frustrated that I couldn't go out for a run !) I'm absolutely loving it and couldn't wait to get out today but I started having a niggle in my knee after my last run on Saturday so rested yesterday but still not good today ,it's painful with impact and when I walk downstairs , I've read up and decided to have another couple days resting so I don't do anymore damage ..will this effect my progress do you think ? And should I leave it until it stops hurting completely before my next run ?!

What a coincidence! Your situation sounds identical to mine... started experiencing pain in my left knee at the end of WK2. Completing WK3 (last week) was super tough, made harder by my knee pain. This morning I started WK4, Run1 having made my mind up to stop and pause for a few days if the knee pain resurfaced (only happens when I run). I was surprised to find the knee pain was less severe than last week, that together with the boost I got from completing the run today I have decided to push on with the programme. What I did do to help my knee pain was:
1. Go slow.
2. Rested knee.
3. Did knee strengthening exercises.
4. Made appt to see Physio (3rd March).
5. Changed trainers.
6. Use patella knee support strap.
I share your current frustration with the knee pain. If you follow my last few posts and replies received there is lots of good advice there from others too on the knee pain.
Good luck!
Oh wow that's reassuring thank you ! Sorry for your pain though ! Yes knee is absolutely painless unless I run or walk downstairs .. I will have a read of your previous posts and follow the same steps .. I definitely need a new pair of trainers ,someone told me mine were good for the gym but not good for running so I'm sure that's not helping .. thanks again for the help 😁
