Surely a record! Slothington indeed...

I graduated this morning.

'Feels like minus 5' helpfully chirruped the Met Office app at 6.20am which is the only time I feel safe running at the moment. Safe from Covid and safe from pointing and laughing as I shuffle round, wheezing. It's taken 16 weeks with one run failed/repeated which I know is hilarious but Christmas, New Year then a series of gruesome weather events meant that I was down to one run a week. I know it would have been easier if I ran more often (the last minute of all three 'week' 9s have been sheer hell) but now the weather looks like it's on the upturn (please?), I am hoping to get back to at least twice a week. I have never run successfully outdoors before and haven't run at all for about 10 years.

I have only managed 4.5 km as my longest run so the next aim is to get to 5km. Who knows, I might even start to venture out in daylight hours...

This forum has been great so thank you. The advice to run slow has been king. Well done to anyone else who is doing this, those who have succeeded and even those who failed. Reading everyone else's trials and tribulations has definitely been an inspiration and education.

Happy plodding x

Thanks, I will read up. I've downloaded Nike Run Club but think I am going to stick with Michael week 9 for the next few weeks, at least until that last minute feels less murderous!

Wow Frenc, I had a little nose on your profile and your are now running 6.5km! Really inspiring, hoping to follow in your footsteps. I'll keep following your progress

Ah thanks Slothington! Yes, I amazed myself with that one! I honestly would have laughed if someone had said I’d be able to do that when I started. You will definitely be doing it soon too 👍😀🏃‍♂️.

Congrats! And eh... you managed 4,5 km in 30 minutes??? I have graduated early January and I don't even reach 4,5 km in 40 minutes! Then again, I don't mind. I am a snail and love being a snail. In any case, don't say ONLY managed, say you managed a WHOLE 4.5 km! ;)

Yes daytime running is great. I like a morning run (never very early) at the weekend. I hope to be back on Saturday or Sunday. It has been 4 days since my last run (Runners Anonymous) I just don't trust myself on that ice. So I am doing indoor exercises til then and hope to have got rid of any niggles by then too. I will be climbing the wall by Friday, but patience is a virtue.

Congratulations slothington 👏🏻👏🏻🏅🥳🥳 it’s a great achievement.

You’ll reach 5k no problem, you’re only just short of that now. Try the Nike Run Club App for your consolidation runs, it’s very good and free too 👍
