55 minute run on my journey to 60 minutes, ticked off and went past 6k slowly. It included my slowest 5K out of 5 this year. It has been a slow week. Also feeling a few niggles. Seems like an enforced break caused by ice and snow next week might have come just in time. I can use it to really concentrate on strength and flex and be back stronger next Saturday. Shame swimming pools are closed. Be safe if you venture out next week.

That’s still a big achievement - getting to 55 mins and to 6k. Well done! And ‘slowest out of 5’ ain’t so bad in the greater scheme of things. I always laugh when I see these stats on my phone. ‘Your second best’ of something I’ve only done twice.... that sort of thing. 👍

Well done Rennur your nearly there. Take it easy you’ll be back fighting fit and rest will help. I’m not really good at the strengthening part of exercises . If I don’t run I go out walking just to get my daily 30 min exercise in, hopefully I can weather dependent. 🤗

Sounds great to me. I can only hope I will get there one day 😀. I have two runs left of week 9 so I hope the snow and ice holds off just long enough. I keep thinking I should try the strength and flex but I'm not sure I have the space for it. Definitely agree with you on the swimming - that used to be my main exercise - it's been far too long. I always feel great after a swim, a bit like a run these days I guess 👍

Hello Rennur. It sounds as though you’ll have that 60 minutes in the bag in no time (weather permitting!) Great attitude using any bad weather time wisely to banish those niggles! 😀👍

Ah a fellow going-to-60-minutes! You will be there faster than me, literally! Taking a week off won't hurt. Better to skip dreadful weather in which you risk injury and at the same time let that body revuperate a bit. Well done!

Well done on your 55 minutes and 6km!At these longer distances, speed becomes less important...you have to run slower to run for longer 😉

Also, you may find you need more recovery days...I certainly needed the 2 days after my 8km last week...and I may take the 2 days after my 5km on Friday...listen to your body.

It’s stressful with the bad weather forecast in the week, but in the long run (!) your body will thank you for the longer break, than if you try and cram the runs in.

Defo an opportunity for some strength and flex in the warm and dry 😂❄️

Only another 10% to go. I did 7k in 60 mins then 8.5K in 70 mins and yesterday in the cold I did 7.5K in 70 mins. Weird how different the days are. However it was my first Saturday since dry Jan ended so I was a bit late up the night before! Perhaps the way to go is to increase time to get to 10k then use that time to consolidate and increase distance? The only thing bothering me about these longer runs is it is twice the time available for all these young uns to gallop past!
