GM everyone... hope everyone is well. Just wanted to share this little milestone, its 12 weeks to the day since my quad bypass, I set myself starting the couch to 5k running challenge as a target and this morning I completed my first run unscathed (I think!). I had some discomfort in the chest when doing the ‘running action’ but I think it normal with my body responding, reduced my running stride shorter to hit ground softer and that helped. Having a chat with cardiac rehab team later to feedback but all set now for my Run number 2 on Wed. Have a good week! 😬
PS - Keeping a video diary which I’ll put out on YouTube as soon as my ‘helper’ has tidied it up!!

I’d previously seen the first one but not the second. I think it’s really good advice... just a matter of perfecting the technique. Thank you for sharing! 👍
Don't want to put a downer on this but...have you checked with your GP, if you are ready? It sounds that you might be, but a professional opinion would not hurt,
Not at all. Always good to be reminded. I have been consulting with my surgeon and cardiac rehab team the last 4 weeks on planning to do this challenge and they have have risk assessed and signed me off as safe to proceed. In fact I spoke to cardiac rehab team after my run today for 45 mins to discuss the run in detail and together with the BP data checking both before/after satisfied the discomfort I experienced was not unusual and simply my body adjusting to the physical exercise demands placed on it after said major surgery. That said I’ll speak with them again Wed after Run 2 and also continue my own close monitoring... but thanks for the reminder nonetheless!
Well done FM68, C25k is very gradual so it should suit you fine, stick with it, it does work. Take the running parts nice and slow and make this forum your go to place for all the help and support you need....Good Luck 👍🏃♂️
👍 Thank you mate. I think I really need to let the meaning of ‘slow’ sink in... I had thought I was going slow today but after the second 1 min run realised I had to go even slower! I’ll definitely get there and thank you again for your encouragement. Hope you are keeping well...
