I started this week and really struggled. I could only run for about 30 to 40 seconds each time. I think I went too fast on my first run, so went a bit slower today but still not able to run for the full 60 seconds. Any tips?

This was me a few weeks ago. Just keep trying and make sure you have some good tunes to listen to. It'll come, I promise.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

As the guide states, you need to be able to walk briskly for 30 minutes before you think about trying to run.

If you can do that then just make sure that your running/jogging pace is one at which you can still speak clear, ungasping sentences as you go......if you cannot, you are going too fast for your current fitness level.

Enjoy your journey.

Hi, try to distract your mind as best you can. Music, podcasts etc. I know that I had to in order to stop thinking about the "struggle" of it. Also go slow 💪

Yes.

Just slow down. Very simple. Don't think 'run'... think JOG instead.

What’s making you stop after 30-40 seconds? Aches? Breathless? Mental barrier? Too hot/cold/sweaty? Can you pin it down to something? Also, you can start REALLY slow - it just needs to be a jogging action as opposed to walking. Also, find a really nice level surface to run on if you can - tip all the odds in your favour!
