Consolidation Runs... am I regressing?!

Hi all :o)

I recently completed the 9 week program and have just completed my 4th consolidation run of 30 mins, but had a bad run... 15 mins in I got a stitch so walked for 30 secs then 28 mins in I walked again for another 30 secs as felt sick 😂

I’m putting this down to ‘just a bad run’ and ‘well, it was very windy’ and... ‘maybe I was dehydrated’ but am feeling a little disheartened... I’m also wondering if I might have better results if I return to interval training having looked at the Couch to 10k training plan... I think I struggle to pace myself so maybe set off too quickly and struggled later in the run... I also find my breathing is impacted if I have to overtake anyone walking as I panic a bit! Does this affect anyone else?!

I’d appreciate any advice on what to do for my next run(s). Thanks in advance!! :)

I think alot of runs, while consolidating, can be up, and down, dont know why really, but have seen alot of similar posts on here, i'm sure you'll get alot of, slow down, comments, which usualy helps, anyway, i'm sure your next run, will be better! 🤞

So StrictlyC25K are you regressing no not all, those runs after the C25k plan, can leave some runners floundering, have you popped across to the consolidation club? I'll drop the link below. It sounds like you're well on your way to diagnosing your own mistakes..... Slow down! Go out easy you can always build speed later. That water, make sure you're hydrated before you run, we need to be drinking at least 2 ltrs a day, but hey drink more if you want, lastly Don't be worrying about passing people simply make that space where possible, perhaps die to covid if that's your panic, run with a mask, or pull that buff/snood up even announcing to walkers you're coming by may help the space!!

Well done on completing the program and continuing! One idea could be to relisten to the week 9 runs so you've still got those bits of encouragement coming through. I find they really help.

I have done my CR6 yesterday and yeah, you have good runs and you have bad runs. But I think that is for everybody everywhere in the world, no matter where they are with their running. Whether they are top athletes or utter beginners, everybody has good and bad runs. The trick is to live on the good runs and to forget the bad runs. With me for example, I generally have 2 bad runs for every good run, so 1/3 of my runs is usually a good run. And I try to lift myself up thinking about how good that good run was 😀

Consolidation or Couch. You know what's best. Just try running for 30 minutes and don't fret if you don't beat your previous distance. You will find your comfort zone and hence your baseline. I am just learning that and I am 2 months past graduation. My pace isn't improving massively yet, but I am finding it easier and am moving onto one longer run each week.
