Red January Continued run4 run5

Time to leave the tarmac 👍 after five days running roads and footpaths it was time to find mud and hills🙂. I prefer my hills muddy rather than and endless tarmac gradient. They're so much more involving. The running I find makes you sharper, thinking about foot placement, tree roots, rocks etc and you're looking ahead much more taking it all in.

Yesterday I got the layers totally wrong, and returned home like a dripping soggy rag, not a good look 😬.

So today it was knees out shorts on and it felt instantly better, chilly but so much better🙂🙂.

The last very similar runs have all been pretty quick so today ok not so fast perhaps a tad of jeffing purely because of the slippyness on the hills but I run trails slower anyhow.

The mud was delightful, the footfall beautifully squelchy and the silence out there WOW it was I felt cleansing. A run to declutter,I suggested to acountrycabbage yesterday about running naked to just enjoy it, today was just that run, nice and slow and easy and all ready for tomorrow 👍

Happy healthy running you lot out there enjoy it whatever your run and be kind to yourselves 🙂

Sounds great! You’ve decided me. I’ve been considering running ‘naked’ and I’m going to try it on Thursday. I’ve not tried it for a whole run.

Funny, I have been wearing tights for a few weeks but I get exactly what you mean, I much prefer to run in shorts. It’s just a little cold for me right now. Give me a couple more degrees! 😊

Ohhhhhhhh go for it Jools you'll become converted 🤗

I love that you describe mud laden traitorous hill running as ‘involving’ 😁😎

Sounds incredibly strenuous but I can understand that’s the point; I like how you describe your sharper focus, foot placement, etc. 👌🏼✨

Oh no, you came home looking like a soggy cabbage yesterday?! (sorry, that’s payback for wanting to witness my Vicar of Dibley moment!) 🙊

Truly though, sounds like a wonderful space to be in 🤩 definitely the kind of terrain I’d like to take on when I’m fit enough. They say New Year is the time to cleanse and declutter so that’s very good timing 👍🏼

Thanks for the mention, I’ll definitely be joining you and aiming for a declutter run on Thursday. Best of luck again tomorrow 🏃‍♂️✨

Oh hey a running companion albeit a virtual one 🥳 roll on Thursday CC.

As and when I'm fully competent on said hills and slope's there's some really breathtaking runs around my area.......

Ditto, I’m close to the beautiful Peak District and there’s an AONB called Cannock Chase Forest - a muddy mountain biker/runner’s Mecca! 🤎

“See” you Thursday! 🙌🏼

Oh that sounds like a lovely run out in the wild, no tarmac and paving stones to pound on, the quiet of the countryside, and squelch of the mud 😀I am a city girl but this really appeals to me. There are a few woods around here I am hoping to explore soon on a more adventurous run but am a bit nervous about falling and slipping/tripping!!! I've just ordered my first pair of trail shoes ...eek!

Cool which ones did you get?

Innov-8 Roclite. Seemed to get some good reviews..hopefully will be ok for me! What do you have?

in reply to Runforurlife

Ohh they're properly suitable, mine are Brooks cascadias, sort of a road trail hybrid

Sounds wonderful!

You are doing amazing.

Enjoy your run tomorrow

in reply to 9weeks2Run

Thanks Rebecca, not too sure if it's gonna be a canal via aqueduct run or more in the muddy hills? I'll let Wednesday decide 👍
