Ever since starting this programme I have always run in the morning. I am a shift worker and have, up to now managed to work round my shifts so I never had to run after an "early" which is 8-5. My run routes are often away from residential areas and mainly deserted with no light so I find running in the dark a bit of an unattractive prospect.
It was niggling me all week though, that after my last run on Monday I wouldn't be able to even fit a run in until Xmas day, when I start at 2pm. I wasn't sure about my commitment to that one, ha ha. When I got home from work tonight, I had the overwhelming urge and definitely enough energy to get myself out for a run. - erm, can someone tell me who has kidnapped the old Lindsey!!??!π€ͺπ€ͺ
I got my kit on and felt empowered. I am looking after my mental and physical well-being better than I ever have!
I set out, knowing my route would be an alternative one. I kept to the well lit paths but it was a route I have never used for running before, now I know why π most of it was a very gradual incline which didn't look much until you're running it head wind. Nice for the return journey though, ha! Despite that, I will revert to my other routes as this was a bit bitty and I had to double back a bit more than I wanted.
On that homebound downhill I definitely unintentionally increased my speed in the second half. I also learned how important a decent playlist is too me too. I had a few duds today on a random Spotify list which didn't inspire me. When I got to a tune I loved though, I was totally encouraged and felt myself synch with the beat.
Today's star track was Epic by Faith no More π€©
Pleased to have unexpectedly ticked this run off my list. One more 25 min run to go then it's hello week 8.
Loving my progress and how much more confident I feel in my ability. When I see 15 mins to go, I don't get scared, I just reflect on where I started and never forget it.
It's really thanks to the help and support I have had on here.
Thanks all πππͺππΌββοΈπ
