Surprise run- W7R2 complete

Ever since starting this programme I have always run in the morning. I am a shift worker and have, up to now managed to work round my shifts so I never had to run after an "early" which is 8-5. My run routes are often away from residential areas and mainly deserted with no light so I find running in the dark a bit of an unattractive prospect.

It was niggling me all week though, that after my last run on Monday I wouldn't be able to even fit a run in until Xmas day, when I start at 2pm. I wasn't sure about my commitment to that one, ha ha. When I got home from work tonight, I had the overwhelming urge and definitely enough energy to get myself out for a run. - erm, can someone tell me who has kidnapped the old Lindsey!!??!πŸ€ͺπŸ€ͺ

I got my kit on and felt empowered. I am looking after my mental and physical well-being better than I ever have!

I set out, knowing my route would be an alternative one. I kept to the well lit paths but it was a route I have never used for running before, now I know why πŸ˜‚ most of it was a very gradual incline which didn't look much until you're running it head wind. Nice for the return journey though, ha! Despite that, I will revert to my other routes as this was a bit bitty and I had to double back a bit more than I wanted.

On that homebound downhill I definitely unintentionally increased my speed in the second half. I also learned how important a decent playlist is too me too. I had a few duds today on a random Spotify list which didn't inspire me. When I got to a tune I loved though, I was totally encouraged and felt myself synch with the beat.

Today's star track was Epic by Faith no More 🀩

Pleased to have unexpectedly ticked this run off my list. One more 25 min run to go then it's hello week 8.

Loving my progress and how much more confident I feel in my ability. When I see 15 mins to go, I don't get scared, I just reflect on where I started and never forget it.

It's really thanks to the help and support I have had on here.

Thanks all 😁😁πŸ’ͺπŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸŽ‰

Well done Lindsey1097, the thing about the magic that is C25k..... It's a simple one really, it's the combination of many people, all starting where you started, week 1 run 1, we've ran those runs you're enjoying, we had the ups the downs, collectively we bounce back, crack on and run the next run. C25K is basically one big crazy about running family, it gets bigger pretty much day by day πŸ™‚

Enjoy that next run ( will it be the Xmas day run though πŸ‘€)

It really is a big running family. When new people join it's lovely too. When I joined I never thought I'd be able to help others with tips on their running using what I had just experienced! I mean I'm still no expert, but I know first hand, as do many others, how that little nudge of encouragement can work wonders πŸ₯° Yes I do think I will keep the ball rolling and go for that last week 7 run on Xmas day. We are celebrating Xmas day on Boxing Day anyway so I can always pretend it's Xmas Eve πŸ€ͺπŸ˜‚

It sounds as if you're hooked now. Well done on that run and bring brave enough to try a new route and learn what to change for next time.

Well done you. Good luck if you decide to go out on Christmas Day. I’m one run ahead with two days of over indulgence between now and 28 minutes of week 8!
