I just couldn't get into the rhythm of it this evening. I got into the disastrous headspace of counting down the run in 30 second blocks. Turns out that telling yourself "Three down, forty-seven to go!" isn't very motivating. Who knew π€?
For some reason Spotify stopped playing just as I started running, so I couldn't even distract myself with music, although it did come on again after about ten minutes. However, I was wearing a new sweatband on my head, and while it wasn't particularly tight, it did keep creeping up my head and threatening to ping off and one time when I was adjusting it I knocked one of my earbuds out. I was on the treadmill, so didn't stop, but my hearing in the other ear isn't the best, so it was just muffled bass from then on - goodness knows what I was listening to π€£. It must have been at about this point that I took a swig from my water bottle and my body decided to inhale rather than swallow so, yeah, that helped!
But do you know what? I finished the run and - now that I've recovered - I feel absolutely fantastic. Finishing the runs when you are feeling good is easy, but finishing runs on a day like this needs determination. I can't say I'm looking forward to the next one, but at least I know I'll do it!
