So had to rest for a couple days after my 8.5mile walk on Sunday but was feeling suitably rested, still a little tight in the calves so took it a bit slower today.
The first 10 was hard to get back my headspace, as it had been a couple days, but persevered! And got through the second better, though I kept at the slower speed for 9 of the mins and then upped it for the last minute and ran and extra 3 mins at the faster speed, then walked for 90 seconds then ran another 3 mins at the faster speed, the last 6 mins felt ‘easier’ but I think it’s just because my muscles were all warmed up, felt like I had more to give but stopped and walked for the cool down and now I’m here 😂!
The rest days mean I now have run 3 on Christmas Day! But I’m okay with that... I think.... will have to keep you posted.
Hope everyone has a great day and is keeping safe x
Well done.Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow, as recommended in the guide to the plan.
Many people do not hold their stretches for long enough or put enough effort in. Hold post run stretches for 30 seconds and make sure the pull is strong enough to be on the verge of discomfort.
Well done Hidden I'm amazed you had extra energy at the end to do so much more. I tend to find I can just make it to the end of the session. Have a lovely recovery day and enjoy your Christmas run.
